Being able to absorb proper nutrients and minerals from the foods you eat is vital to maintaining a healthy, strong body. Many of us, for various reasons have issues with absorption. One cause for lack of absorption can be from inflammation in the intestines. Inflammation can happen due to stress, too many processed foods, or too much sugar, disabling our ability to absorb properly. Ghee reduces inflammation in the gut, allowing for normal absorption of your food, supplements and vitamins.
Ghee acts as a carrier for important fat soluble vitamins; which are A, D, E, and K. In order for the body to absorb these vitamins, it must have a high quality saturated fat, like ghee. Because ghee is a short chain fatty acid saturated fat, it is absorbed quickly by the body and used for energy and so for this reason is less likely to cause weight gain like with olive oil or other commercial vegetable oils (Enig/Fallon “The Skinny on Fats”).
Ghee also has beneficial antimicrobial properties (as does all short chain and medium chain fatty acid saturated fats) that protect us from viruses, yeasts, and pathogenic bacteria in the gut, keeping the digestion functioning properly getting maximum absorption. With that being said, fats like ghee, when taken with a meal, do allow you to feel more satiated and absorb more slowly, so you eat less and feel more satisfied!! I like the sound of that.
Be well my friends. Eat well. And Stay fit!!
Love to you all.
